Carlo Marchione (Rome, 1964) has won seven major prizes at international competitions. He has performed as a solo guitarist, with orchestras and chamber music ensembles. Nowadays he is a professor and regularly leads masterclasses at various European Conservatoires as well as being a regular guest at Festivals worldwide.

He is a professor at 5 different academies around Europe: The Conservatory in Maastricht, Lille, Palma de Mallorca, the International Academy of music in Rome and at the post-diploma Music Academy in Torino. During the years of teaching he had the honour to work together with players such as M.Dylla, G.Krivokapic, V.Gorbach, F.Larousse, I.Kulikova, A. Del Sal, Duo Melis, and more. Due to his immense love for teaching he has been awarded in 2017 with one of the most prestigious didactic prizes; the Golden Guitar.

He has inspired composers such as A. Carlevaro, C. Domeniconi, K.Vassiliev and J. Duarte to write new compositions for him. In the search for new ideas for his repertoire, he discovered almost forgotten compositions which come out like jewels through his genial transcriptions. His editing of the 12 Violin Fantasies by Georg Philipp Telemann has been highly praised by the press.

Carlo is also an enthusiastic online teacher. Following this passion, he founded together with the invaluable help of his fiancée the ‘Marchione Online Academy’ (for classes and lectures), where he regularly works with highly talented young players around the world. Besides this, he is a tireless publisher. On his Online Shop is released monthly a new transcription. Many great players, such as V.Kocic (Albeniz-Naxos) or C.Dalia (Scarlatti and Bach’s Ciaccona), have already used Carlo‘s arrangements for their recordings.
